In 2005 an idea was born by campers Nick and Tracy- some form of bike decoration station offered to the city. From this idea, Pimp Your Bike began, and made its debut in the City at Burning Man 2006. It is met each year since with growing success.
We bring folks into our camp by providing a fun and useful service: bike personalization. We bring art supplies, tarps, and a good workspace. All campers contribute- old xmas ornaments, paint, stickers, found objects, and fabric are donated to the bins for fellow playa citizens to dress up their rides!
Pimp Your Bike is usually located on our street corner, using in the daytime space that the Micro Cinema uses at night.
How to support the PYB project
1. Sign up on your 'My Teams' page.
2. Get in contact with your team-mates (or start recruiting)
3. Gather pimping supplies (see the inventory below for ideas).
4. Sign up on the roster to volunteer a shift.
5. Let Urban Plan know space requirements.
6. Bring pimpers in and be there to help out!
7. TIP: Staffers- please meter out supplies so we have enough all week!
